At LANS Cardio – in cooperation with competent partners – we have comprehensive means (e.g., ergometry, stress echocardiography, stress magnetic resonance imaging [MRI]) to non-invasively assess the risk of your having a relevant coronary artery disease. In cases of probable cause we may carry out a catheter-based examination of your heart at the Campus Lübeck of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH), possibly implanting coronary stents to dilate (widen) and stabilise any narrowed coronary arteries. During such a procedure we use modern invasive procedures such as intracoronary flow measurements (fractional flow reserve [FFR]) to assess the severity of your coronary artery disease. Thereby we may avoid unnecessary stent implantations.
KEY ASPECT Coronary artery disease
Coronary artery disease is widespread. It is characterised by a narrowing of the coronary arteries supplying the cardiac muscle with blood. This narrowing, which is caused by “calcific” deposits in the arterial walls, limits the amount of oxygen needed by the heart muscle to function properly. One of our main points of interest is the treatment of this type of heart disease.
